Social connection

Menora is a unique organisation in that it encompasses our whole community, across all ages, genders, Shule affiliations and political persuasions. It’s a giant umbrella that covers our whole community in the spirit of generosity, love and tzedaka.

We have volunteers from children all the way up to the elderly and everyone in-between, all working together for the greater good. Menora exists to support the vulnerable members of our community, but in truth, it connects and uplifts everybody involved in the work that we do.

Coffee club

The Menora Foundation holds a monthly Coffee Club.  With guest speakers and morning tea provided the Coffee Club offers a place to meet and is a fantastic opportunity for community connection and social cohesion. These mornings are open to the whole community and are enthusiastically attended by clients and community members and have become a very special part of the Menora experience.

Orna’s Art Club

Thanks to a collaborative effort between Assets, Orna Shachar, an art teacher and Menora Social Services, we are excited to offer art classes. These classes take place at the JHub in an intimate group setting, running bi-weekly for 3 hours each session, for 3–4 months. Participants work on individual projects, with personalized instruction from Orna. There are limited spots in each class and they fill fast.

Join the Menora volunteer family

Our volunteer cohort is a vibrant group ranging from school children to retirees and many in-between. We have people working in the warehouse doing a range of jobs from clothes sorting, jewellery, electrical checking and tagging and more. We also have volunteers who offer pro-bono services and skills that benefit our clients. We are always looking for new volunteers and are open to new opportunities, so if you have a special skill, we can find a place for you at Menora.
